Ganiu Kabiru emerged as the new mass communication department president.

Ganiu Kabiru Samson has been emerged as the new President of Mass communication departmental during the departmental election which took place at Edo State Polytechnic, inside Mass Communication ND 2 class.

Ganiu Kabiru Samson has outrun his major opposition Christopher with the wide margin of 66 to 14 during the Mass Communication departmental election which took place on the 16 of March, 2021. 

The election started immediately after the aspirants for each posts in the department were called upon to present their manifestoes before the students by few minutes to 2pm. Afterward the students were called upon to cast their votes one after the older with the departmental payment receipt which serve as their voters card.

The election went free, fair  and peacefully as each of the students gladly voted for the candidates  of their choices without intimidation. Though some were disqualified from voting during the election due to lack of a verified departmental receipt, but as many as are eligible to vote casted their vote as franchise bid.

After the election, the electoral body call the students inside inorder to count the votes openly before the students. The ballot boxes were presented before all the students and the ballot paper which contains the vote of the students were all counted one after the other openly. The opposition to the winner named Christopher has fourteen votes while Ganiu Kabiru Samson has 66 votes.

Supporters of the winner jumped up out of their seats as they rejoice for the victory. The electoral body call out the winners of the election starting from the aspirant for the post of Director Of sport , General Secretary and later the winner of the presidential post Ganiu. The HOD congratulated the newly elected departmental excos, and always encourage them to serve the students. She said "election is not a do or die affair and that the those who lose tl their opposition shouldn't feel bad".

USEN COMMUNITY REGAINS PEACE

Usen, a community housing Edo State Polytechnic has regained back her peace some hours after a young man was shot by some unknown gun men. The incidence which happen around 3pm today left everyone in the community with tension and fear. However, some vendors, shop owners and students have confirmed that truly a young man was reportedly shot by some young men who drove to the shop of the young man by name Mr Folorunso and shot him.  However, after the incidence the indigenous security together with other security officials known as Gboolaga are fully in charged and have taken it upon themselves to ensure the community is safe for all to live and relate.

One dead Around EdoPoly School Gate

A young man has reportedly been shot dead around the school gate premises, in Usen, the community housing Edo State Polytechnic, Usen. A source confirmed it to Shalomupdatez that the issue happens around 3pm. "The demise Folorunso shot by two guys who suddenly came out of a vehicle and trigger the gun twice" he noted. Another source however also claims that the demise is a welder and his mother is a well known fish seller in Usen community. While investigating the matter, a passer by, a woman in the community was found making call saying, "your brother Folorunso whose mother sell fish has been shot, and he is dead".
