Edo State polytechnic management reacts to SUG online 24hours protest.

The Edo State polytechnic Student Union Government, represented by Comrade Israel Manaya the SUG president present their complain before the school management in a meeting with the school management yesterday, after the 24hours online protest.

The SUG of Edo State polytechnic who commenced online protest since April 15 as a result of some of the difficulties and unfavourable conditions and problems facing the students in the institution. In some of the online fliers for protest which entails the inscription, FALODUN MUST GO, NO TO INCOMPLETE ACCREDITATION, NO TO E-VOTING...

After the 24hours online protest, the school management has honored the voice of the SUG by calling them for a solemn assembly inside the school premises inorder to listen to their outcry, and also reason together inorder to know the way forward. The meeting commences around 12pm yesterday 16,April.

The SUG president Israel made it known to the students through his PRO by name Comrade K. Believe that the students should all enhance serenity in their Anita struggle for change. The school management has called on us, and we have reason together and present our complain. Answers has been provided to a good number of our heart desire.

He further stated some of the request that has been attended to as follow; 

1. SUG election will be done manually rather than E-voting 

2. Utility fees reduction to 5000

3. Addition of 1000 to project binding is as a result of increment in the price of paper.

4. The shortage of electricity has also been attended to and the management represented by the Registrar has travelled to Benin to meet BEDC for solution.

5. The issue of shortage of water was also addressed, the management said their is water in circulation presently in the campus.

6. The SUG Union account has been unfreezed presently.

7. HND accreditation is presently being worked on, as the management awaits the NBTS for arrival date.

The meeting was adjourn to monday 19, April 2021 for further discussion.

USEN COMMUNITY REGAINS PEACE

Usen, a community housing Edo State Polytechnic has regained back her peace some hours after a young man was shot by some unknown gun men. The incidence which happen around 3pm today left everyone in the community with tension and fear. However, some vendors, shop owners and students have confirmed that truly a young man was reportedly shot by some young men who drove to the shop of the young man by name Mr Folorunso and shot him.  However, after the incidence the indigenous security together with other security officials known as Gboolaga are fully in charged and have taken it upon themselves to ensure the community is safe for all to live and relate.
