EDO STATE POLYTECHNIC NEW STUDENTS ORIENTATION DAY1.
RECTOR SPEECH: given by the deputy rector (Academic)
He commence by appreciating the effort of the Dean of Students to ensure the programme was properly put together; enlighting the students on the purpose of the orientation, as to educate the new students on the rule and regulation and enlightening them on how to maintain peace within themselves.
*To educate freshers on procedure they need to take in order to pay their school fees
*To teach students some strategies they need to be the best among the bests in the school
*He finally declared the new students orientation programmes open.
RULES AND REGULATION OF THE SCHOOL. (BY THE DEAN OF STUDENT)
1. The issue of fraud (paying school fees to 419). New students should always endeavour to ask question from school authorities, rather than paying school fees through agents. (Fees are payed through the school ICT)
2. Fighting is highly prohibited (Consequences is graduation unceremoniously)
3. Stealing is highly prohibited... (Consequences is payment of 5000 naira
4. Electric cooking gadgets are not allow in the hostel.
5. Lottery around the hostel is not allowed most especially when you are not supposed to be there.(Consequences ..payment of 2000 refusal to pay may lead to rustication )
6. Washing in the wrong place is prohibited for example washing beside the tap or inside the common room. (2000 fine) if caught.
7. Every visitor in the hostel must see the Potter in the common room to ask for who he or she is asking of, rather than going directly to rooms of those he want to visit
8. Cultism is not allowed (Shame and poverty is the portion of those who refuse to take instruction)
9. Possession of fire arms is prohibited (Immediate expulsion is the consequence)
10. Cooking is restricted to some places, breaching of oil is prohibited in the hostel as it may serve as hazard for thr health of those facing health challenges in the hostel.
11. Some gadgets are not allowed in the hostels like television
GROSS MISCONDUCT
Furthermore the CSO warns against some misconduct which should not be mentioned among students
1. Drug abuse: Bringing of alchohol into the hostel or school is not permitted. Usage of Indian hemps either by smoking or for cooking is not allowed.
2. Theft or destruction of school properties in the name of showing displeasure over so called unfavorable school policy will be paid for.
3. FALSE PUBLICATION AGAINST THE SCHOOL IS NOT ALLOWED.
3. Examination malpractice is not allowed. Impersonation is not allowed, indescent dressing, froggery of result is not allowed.
When you are expelled you can never come back to the poly again.
Two Students complained during freshers orientation week about the way they were maltreated in the hostel.

DUTIES OF THE SECURITY
1. Protection of lives and properties of both students
2. Prevention of crime
3. Apprehension of offenders
4. Enforcement of rules and regulations
5. As a student in the campus you have to be inquisitive.
6. Avoid the usage of headset especially when moving alone in the dark.
7. Study your environ before relating with people in such area. (Company you keep must be scrutinized)
8. It is a crime to engage in any kind of sexual harassement between students or staffs.
9. Emphatically the CSO tressed that cult activities is strictly prohibited in Edo State Polytechnic.
