The department of mass communication in Edo State Polytechnic engage in consistent training ahead of the SUG football cup. The department of mass communication has taken up the challenge to excel in the 2020/2021 Student Union Government cup. The match has been scheduled to commence on the 26th of July 2021. The departmet has been alleged of poor performances since the yearly SUG cup commences, this makes the new DOS to take up the challenge to engage all the players in an efforts-full training. "Our efforts this time around won't be in vain, because the HOD of the department Miss Ogbogbo Hellen who has not at once shown interest in sport before has shown interest so, I think this is an omen that both our male and female players will do better, and with the joint efforts of the department, we will surely win the cup" says the departmental president, Honourable Samson.  Students preparing for examination left in thick darkness as the school newly erected transformer caught fire. The newly wired transformer of Edo State Polytechnic has reportedly caught fire this evening around 8:15pm. The nd1/hnd2 students that are preparing for their exams which had been aforetime scheduled to hold on the 5th of July 2021 we're in their various classes reading for their exams when they noticed a strange fire/spark that appears on the top of the transformer and wires. The transformer stop functioning after numerous Sparks of light, the cause of the spark is not known yet. The students, preparing for examination have to rescue out the issue by putting on their florecent and phone touches. While some of the students need to return home as they are helpless and couldn't help their situation as a result of the absence of electricity and any other source of light. The newly matriculated students of Edo State polytechnic panic and express how anxious they are, after receiving the information that they will be writing exam three weeks after matriculation. Some out of the 2300 newly admitted students of Edo State polytechnic have expressed their concern over the date of tests and examination newly released by the institution immediately after the matric. The students who were matriculated on the 17th of June for the 2020/2021 academic session doubted if they will be able to meet up with the short time given to them to quickly finish their syllabus. After interviewing some of them over the decision of the institution to have them sit for their exam three weeks after their matriculation, they pitifully express themselves, that, though it is not the fault of the institution, because ASUP strike has done a lot of harm to the students rather than good.   Fire outbreak; Residence around Deexcess filling station, opposite Edo State polytechnic Usen  run helter-skelter for safety,as the MTN mast opposite the community filling station catch fire. The  diesel using generator inside MTN mast, opposite Deexcess filling station reportedly catch fire around 11:45am today which is Sunday. It was said that the inhabitants around the environment suddenly noticed that smoke is emanating from a designated place built with tiny wires for the MTN mast and generator. The man incharge of the key to the place was reached, and the place was opened. The manager of the Deexcess filling station,  opposite the MTN mast assist with a fire extinguisher, which was quickly used to quench the fire.  The cause of the fire is not yet known up till this moment, but an engineer has been reached to repair the generator. The newly elected SUG president Miss Sandra Soga Omolere and her executives  for the year 2020/2021 has held their first congress with the students of Edo state Polytechnic, yesterday in Mass communication class which is the former school hall on May 11, 2021.  Among the issues discussed are strike, electricity, water supply and insecurity.
